Starting in 2007 and continuing on until 2009, the HRL Reds and KWL Belly Itchers each won three consecutive championships. During that time period, most would agree that they were the two best teams in the entire nation, which was reflected in the NWLA rankings with both teams in the top 4 of the final rankings each of those three seasons.
Combined, they won over 180 games while losing less then 50. They outscored their opponents at a 2/1 ratio, hit more then 320 homeruns and struck out well over 2,200 hitters!
On the surface the teams looked very similar because of their records and accolades; however they were not mere images of the other. In fact, one team was a prolific pitching team (Reds), while the other an offensive juggernaut (Itchers). Different techniques, but with the same result; Three consecutive Championships and forever known as possibly the two best Wiffleball Dynasties the NWLA has/will ever see!
But which one is the better Dynasty? What really makes this debate so enjoyable is that they both ran their 3-peats during the same seasons; 07, 08 and 09! But that is not the only parallel that can be drawn: both featured one of their leagues premier hitters (Spoon and Bontrager) and premier pitchers (Dr. Seuss and Tate) and both lost arguably their best players in 2010 (Spoon and Bontrager), which ended both streaks at 3!
